woohoo I finally made it!! 7000 posts!! another milestone has been reached   :twothumbs: :whoo:  :2thumbs: :jumping1: :jumping: :tb: arty2:
with that being said, I have some extra news... I have decided to rehome Chickachoo
he and Muffin were becoming SOOO obsessive with mating and nesting and it was just getting to be too much, I tried everything I could to prevent their behavior, or stop it, and nothing was working. I rehomed him to the woman who owns the pet store I got Muffin from, she breeds and hand feeds cockatiels, so I'm sure he will make many beautiful babies some day Just not in this house! I hope Muffin will just calm down now and focus on being a BIRD instead of an egg laying machine
so... they also had some amazing babies available...
and.....
I sort of....
came home with one
I know, I know, it doesn't sound fair, but what's done is done and I think this will be a better fit for all. So here is our new, recently weaned, baby white faced pearl Don't know if it is a male or a female yet, hoping for female!! Should find out in about 4 months or so after the first molt (males will lose the pearls, females keep them) Sweetest little snuggle baby!!
Wow Jill that is quite a few posts! Think we should beak out the champagne for this celebration.
Your newest little one is gorgeous. Don't feel guilty either, you did what was best for your house and your flock. Will keep fingers crossed that this one is a girl too.
I'm sorry things didn't work out with Chickachoo, hopefully he will be happy in his new home and have some chicks of his own.
Congrats on reaching 7000 posts and your latest acquisition! arty:
Your new addition is so cute. Don't feel bad about rehoming your other cockatiel, like the others said, you just did what was best for the well being of your flock.
Congratulations, Jill on 7000 posts and on the new baby cockatiel. Any ideas about names? Don't worry about Chickachoo. He'll be fine in his new home with his new friends.
Congratulations hunni on 7k posts!! heres to 7k more
Sorry to hear about chickachoo, i am/was in a similar situation here at the moment with Harpy.. she's separated from Badger right now and has been for two weeks due to the fact she seems to be in breeding condition.. she was presenting to Badger and the poor little dude was like... well... what do i do.. and she was getting nasty towards him because he wouldn't get on her and 'do the deed'.
Harpy is quite the little.... *ahem*.. a violent little thing to say the least, still bites like a hell hound tho she is better then what she was when i first got her.... waaay better, doesn't get on with the budgie flock at all and Kes will stand up to her.. even more so now she has tanned up and in condition too and yeah.. its scarey!
So Harpy can't be out of cage when Badger and the Budgies are out, and its heart breaking for me to see this, but she gets attention from me so she isn't ignored either.
Its harder when the kids (7 yrs, and 4 yrs with aspergers) are here, cos they want to have her out and have one each on their shoulders etc.. but Harpy just cannot be trusted at this point not to go for fingers, cheeks and ears, so Badger gets their attention... more so now that my best and very super cuddly tame budgies are now at rainbow bridge (Ares and Gila) waiting for me.
So don't let anyone make you feel bad about your decision, you did the right thing for both your birds.
Your new little bundle is gorgeous, heres hoping for a female! can't wait to see more photos soon
Here is a couple of pics of the sparrowhawk I told you about Jill. This was in May of 2010. There is a slight resemblance as I remembered What do you and Mike think? ........."Mia Sparrow?" .
