SEE BELOW RESPONSE FROM MY FRIEND LOOKING AFTER PADDY AND THE BUDGIES. THIS IS HIS SECOND MOVE SINCE MY HOLIDAY IS SO LONG. I FEEL BAD FOR THE LITTLE MAN AS HE RARELY BITES ME - IF HE DOES IT'S MORE A KISS OR A TINY NIP TO SAY "Hey, get me this or that." I WOULD LIKE ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO WHEN I GET HOME TO GET HIM BACK TO HIS OLD SELF. KEEP IN MIND HE WAS ONLY 6-7 MONTHS OLD WHEN I LEFT HIM SO HAD JUST BONDED TO ME VERY VERY MUCH.

ALSO, HE ALWAYS GOES DOWN MY SHIRT (and the shirt of the last lady who looked after him) WITHOUT FAIL EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. READING BELOW HE DOES NOT DO THAT AT ALL NOW :( :(

I AM HAVING A WEEK OFF WORK WHEN I GET HOME JUST TO GET HIM USED TO ME AGAIN BUT I WOULD APPRECIATE TIPS FROM ANYONE AS TO WHAT SPECIFICALLY I CAN DO FOR MY LITTLE MAN. I FEEL SO SAD FOR HIM RIGHT NOW. I'M HOME IN A WEEK AND A BIT.

How is Paddy? Has he settled down yet? How are the budgies?

Paddy is doing fine, he spends most of the time out of his cage, sitting on the budgies cage! He has become very adventurous with his flying in the last few days!!! When I put the towels over the budgies at night he loves to get under it and stays there until his bed time. Occasionally he wants to get under a shirt but most of the time he prefers to be with his friends! He is still biting - especially the ears and now he started to do these tiny nips on the neck - I wonder why?? Apart from that he is happy in himself and eating well! The budgies are fine, eating well and constantly chattering amongst themselves! We haven't had them outside on the verandah much as it has been so windy it just blows the newspapers in the cage everywhere. They all love their greens and corn and get straight into it as soon as I put it in the cage!

It's very likely all these changes in a short amount of time have caused Paddy to bond more with his budgie friends, because during your vacation the only constant on Paddy's life has been his flock.
And surely he misses you as much as you miss him.
When you get him back, take things slow at first. Watch his behaviour when you start to interact with him, use your voice to your advantage when talking to Paddy and use positive reinforcement to correct unwanted behaviour.
As you know, lovebirds are very intelligent and surely once you reassure Paddington that you are there to stay and he realizes it, he will go back to his sweet and more lovable self.

Good luck with your boy and be sure to update us on how things go! :)

I am no expert but I think Aluz's advice is excellent. Look at this as a little adventure/challenge to get reacquainted with Paddy and we will be bathing in your glowing reports in no time Madonna...;)

I agree completely, I would take lots of time (it's good you're taking a week off work!) to re-introduce yourself and once he realizes you are still there for him I'm sure he'll warm up to you again :)

I sincerely hope it goes well, please keep us posted ;) I'm sure he'll be back to his old cuddly self soon!

Madonna,

I imagine Paddy is going to be as happy to see you as you are to see him.

Ana has offered good advice and Paddy will soon be doing his "down the shirt" snuggles every night without fail.

I'm looking forward to hearing how things go when you get back home with all your birdies!

Peachy and the flock send their love and kisses!

Thanks Ana. I appreciate your advice. I am hoping he is happy to see me. Hard to know having never been away from him and coming back to him. I cannot wait to see his little face.

Thanks for your positive spin :) I am hoping he remembers the home environment and me and all he used to do there and get back into the swing of things.

Thank you :) I only just decided to take the extra time off work as I felt he needed it considering how he's been. So glad I did as I really think it will help him adjust having me there before going back to work again. Thanks for your warm wishes.
