Hi there!
257416

Thanks for having us 馃 there's so much useful info on this forum!
Bird Beak Parrot Feather Wood
I work with bigger rescue birds, I'm not as knowledgable with these beauties.
This little one is approx 6wks old, there were complications at first, they were rescued from a backyard breeder who had poor conditions, 4 babies were being brought to me at 4wks old, sadly 3 passed on the trip to me. Seeing as there was only one survivor it was decided I'd keep it with me so that it could be offered 24/7 care. 2wks later, it's putting on weight steadily, eats solo, drinks n poops with no blockages (the other 3s behinds were blocked up n crusty with poop due to running on the bottom of a disgusting & wet aviary)
It's even started chirping.
I now would like to know the sex cause little buddy needs a name. This one's Gunna stay with me and live a long n healthy life. we accidentally got attached to each other. Oops I don't know anything about sexing budgies, I'd been told that when younger the cere is actually opposite 馃ゴ

What a lucky little bird to be in your care, thanks for rescuing this little guy, so sorry about the other 3, looks like you have done a great job with this one. On my computer the cere looks to be a dark pink, if that is the case in person then this is a male and he is really cute, the cere will turn blue in a few months. Given the awful conditions that this bird came from it would be best to have him examined by an avian vet to make sure he did not acquire anything in the aviary such as internal parasites or bacterial, viral or fungal issues. As you may know, birds are masters at hiding problems and illness until it becomes so bad that they cannot hide it any longer. Please continue to post updates on this little guy and let us know what you name him.
