Hello,
Just got a 5 week old budgie a couple of days ago and I was just wondering if you could help me as to its gender and mutation.
If the images aren't good enough I can get some more tomorrow 😁
Many thanks

female I believe. From the pictures there are white marks around the nostrils (not sure if that’s the correct term) which is a tell tale sign for a female. Absolutely beautiful bird !

Hello and welcome to the forums!

This little one is definitely older than 5 weeks, I'd say about 5-6 months as Cody suggested above. The photos do not appear to be taken in natural light, is that correct? For most accurate gender determination, you should post photos taken in sunlight during the day :) From the shape of the cere alone, I'd guess female, but I need better photos to make an accurate assumption. I look forward to seeing more photos as this little one is truly adorable! Do you have any name ideas yet?

Meanwhile, you've come to a great place to learn even more about the best of budgie care practices. Please be sure to read through the forums' many budgie articles and stickies; if you have any questions after reading through things, feel free to ask as we'd be happy to help.

Hope to see you around! 👋
