Hi there Lyn :)

As I mentioned before with the previous photos you were so generous to allow me use for the mutation guide I am working on (Thanks again! :D ) Indi looks like a cobalt, violet, double factor yellowface II to me, especially given that both of go parents were yellowfaces :) A few of the photos you have posted of him look a bit lighter or darker than others which is common with yellowface, but most of them are darker like a Df yellowface II from what I can see :)

And Clinton said he was a yellow faced type 1 violet Cobalt... Which one is right...another photo front on I don't understand how this works can you help...

Hi Cutelilbirdies,
I do understand you are very knowleglable about colour mutations of budgies, but violet forms and yellow-faced blue budgies are very tricky to exmine and to name correctly.
I am researching my yellow-faced blue budgies and violet budgies, and I am learning much about which is which the budgies.
I were knowleglable about budgie mutations.

Lyn's pet budgie Indgio is a single factor yellow-faced type 1st violet-cobait normal budgie. His central tail feathers are entirely dark bluish purple, a sure sign this bird is a violet-cobait, in single factor.

I had only have one double factor violet-cobait budgie in juvenile plumage, but I sold the bird, to petshop.
Double factor violet-cobait budgies are true purple-bodied budgies, and colour are darker than single factor violet-cobait budgies.

I have a single factor yellow-faced type 2nd violet-cobait normal male budgie, his colours are not bright, had puplish-blue belly and foam sea green breast as in my two photoes, with a single factor yellow-faced type 1st skyblue opaline spangle.

I have a 2-month-old single factor yellow-faced type 1st violet-cobait normal female budgie in her juvenile plumage. Her cheek, nape, forehead feathers had not moulted yet. Her eye iris are grey.

Lyn's pet budgie Indgio's plumage is bright, with creamy face, and purplish blue body....beautiful wonderful bird.

I will send you more photoes of yellow-faced blue budgies and violet budgies when I have time. :budgie:

First photo of central tail feathers, the left feather is of single factor violet-cobait, while right feather is of double factor violet-skyblue. Please look at my photoes.

Thank you Jo Ann! I hope it will be helpful! :)

Type I and Type II (roman numeral for 1 & 2) are only a reference to the two different types of yellowface mutations.

Type I has the yellow face but does not affect the body or wings. In its single factor form the face is yellow, in double factor form the face is white.

Type II has the yellow face and it also diffuses through to the body and wings to various degrees. In single factor the yellow diffuses through the entire body. In double factor form the yellow is paler and it diffuses mainly in the top of the body.

Hopefully this little bit of an explanation will help you in deciding which type best describe Indi. Here is a rather good reference article Yellowface Blue Budgies.

Either way, Indi is as handsome as ever :)

Li. I rang my Breeder who is a show breeder and he said that Indi was a yellow faced violet. I give up asking what type Indi is... I love him the way he is anyway he is Beautiful to me. Indi is also a Show Budgie.
