Hi we got birdie on Saturday I'm sure the breeder told me his mutation but I can't remember lol also he was pretty sure that he's male but as he's only 8 weeks old he couldn't be 100% so any guesses will be welcomed his cere looks bluer in day light

Look like a grey green. If it is blue cered and has white around the nostrils, it is probably female.

I agree, grey green or olive green, it's hard to tell on the gender because the cere (above the beak) has a shadow in the first pic. What color does it look like to you? If it's mostly purple then you have a male, if there is white or if it's kind of a milky tone, it's a girl :)

The gender doesn't really matter when it comes to taking, it's really the amount of time you spend with them :) The key is to go slow and have patience!! I have had a female for a month now (Shrimp) and she is just starting to get used to being around us all the time, she is still afraid of our hands, but will eat millet sometimes when we are holding it! Is it possible to take a better picture of the cere, maybe tomorrow when there is natural light? It looks male to me in the first photo, but it's really hard to tell. And yes, females can still mimic words :)

Not sure of the sex, but I'd probably lean towards a male as the cere looks to have a purple tone to me. Females do talk. They are not renowned talkers but my hen, wolf whistles, makes kissy noises and says "pretty pretty bird". She is a single budgie and has lots of time spent with her so that always helps :)

Thank you, yes it is a bluey/purple colour. Yes birdie is on his own so I'm hoping will be bonded with me
