I brought home a 6 wks old baby budgie, which I told you about in a separate post.

He has a yellow hue all over the body and I find it adorable. Will s/he keep that hue after the first molt or will his feathers become more white? Just wondering.

Thanks.

Looks like either 1) a yellowface type II double factor dominant pied blue. Alternatively it could possibly be 2) a yellowface type II single factor dominant pied + recessive pied blue. Heres how you tell - if its beak remains orange, it never gets iris rings then its probably number two. If it gets iris rings its likely number one.

The yellow will more than likely become more solid after the first moult, not lighter.

Thank you very much Dean.
And thanks for the tips how to tell which type s/he might be.
Probably the best will be to just wait for the first molt.

I too was thinking that s/he was Yellow face DF dominant but I am not too sure now. Besides, I don't have much experience in that field ... yet.

I will be taking and posting more pics of him; don't want to stress him out too much on the first few days here, even though he does not mind being close to me.
