Wing extended and shaking

Hello all,

I am hoping I can pick your brains. Our almost two year old male budgie is keeping his left wing slightly extended from his body. He stretches it occasionally and it shakes rapidly and then he tucks it back in (still slightly extended). This started just this evening.

Georgie, our budgie, is allowed to fly freely around the room. Recently, perhaps last week or so, he has been keeping more to his cage which is quite unusual.

Ideally we would like to take him to the vet but we have recently moved and when I enquired, the vets nearby either do not have an exotic animal department or just didn’t respond at all. I will obviously search and travel to a vet hopefully tomorrow but until then, was wondering if anyone had some insight in to this behaviour.

My husband thinks Georgie sprained his wing (we did not witness an accident) but I think it might be to do with him staying in his cage, possibly moulting?

Would really appreciate any advice.

It does seems as though he sprained or dislocated something but I would have it checked out take a look at this and see if it helps you to locate a vet https://theparrotsocietyuk.org/site/files/resources/avian-vets-2.pdf

I can’t thank you enough. The link you sent me has two vets listed that are nearby. I will get in touch and get Georgie checked out.

Hello all.

Just to let you know, Georgie is doing much better. He took some time to rest and is now back to his perky self. Looks like it was a sprain which we are thankful was not anything more serious.
