Hello everyone!!!

I just discovered that my new, first ever, budgie is a handsome young BOY, and now I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on his color mutation? I cannot tell if he is a type 1 or a type 2 yellowface blue, but would love some insight from those that are skilled in determining the difference :)

Type I is when the yellow is on the face only, type II bleeds into the body causing a turquoise colour in blue birds and a muddy mauve color in violet in gray. You can't really tell on a young bird because they have yet to moult. :) I stick with type I for your guy until a moult

Hi. There hear is a photo of Indi his name is really Indigo for violet. You have a yellow faced violet and he looks like Indi this is cool this is my first yellow faced violet what is your budgies name. Hope you like the photo. When your budgie molts he should darken up Indi was that colour when i first bought him and i thought he was pale to when they get older they darken up you have a yellow faced violet blue and boy he sure looks the same as my budgie Indi. Your budgie should darken up like indi when he gets older. How old is your budgie. I bought Indi at 4 weeks old now Indi is 10 months old maybe Indi and your budgie are twins on the form. Your budgie look like my budgie Indi is beautiful your budgie should look like Indi i posted a photo of him when he was young for you to see the difference. You have a beautiful budgie. So do i i agree 100% as when i got Indi he was pale you can see the difference in the photo's i posted in when Indi was a baby at 2 weeks old now in the other photo of Indi he is now 10 months and has had a few molts. This is why i posted my photo's of Indi to show her the difference in colour i think Indi is a 11 now you can tell that Indi has darkened up from when he was a baby. With your little one you will have to wait till he molts before he darkens to see how much but i love your budgie as he is the same as Indi. Indi has a double on the form. How old is your budgie Indi is now 10 months. Lyn and Indi

Your bird is YF 1 cobalt normal.

Look at white stripe on underside of secondary flight feathers.

If it is pale yellow or yellow it is SF YF 2

If white or cream-tinted white, it is SF YF 1

SF YF 1 had creamy face while SF YF 2 had yellow face
