Well...we clicker trained. Pippin was eager as ever to work with me. Maru is still not sure about the stick being behind him so im rewarding him for letting me have the stick near him. Star wasnt interested in training. Max was distracted...and so was ziggy.
We will eventually ger back to some kind of normal.

I am sure things will go back to normal, it is true that three of your budgies didn't want to train, but the fact that Pippin wanted so bad to train and Maru accepted to train too (even if his results weren't as positive as you expected, I guess) is a good sign!

I have started to read your thread from the start, and I'm not even halfway, but it is really interesting to read about the training sessions and the flock dynamics, and the videos of your budgies performing the tricks are awesome!
For now, the most interesting trick between yours for me is "pick up" the cat toy ball, mostly because this is the only one my budgie Celeste might be able to do out of all of them.
I have also read your fourth to last post where you said that the cat toy ball was a victim of "where in the world did I put it"... tell me about it.
I had a little toy soccer ball that would have been perfect for a trick I saw on YouTube, in which a budgie has to push it into the goal. However, I lost it. I have seen it a thousand times around the house, and now that I need it... it has disappeared.
Well, I haven't taught anything to Celeste except for touching the target yet, so it will take a lot of time to get to the tricks with a toy ball, but still...

Hi all. No updates this week. Life kinda exploded, as it tends to do, and i have a bunch of stuff going on. Good news is im done with the summer class! I will suddenly have this thing called free time again. A 16 week class condenced into 8 is a bit demanding. Ideally i will get back into a routine buuutttt i am unlikely to stay consistent for awhile still because of life stuff demanding my attention and it doesnt look to be settling down any time soon. In the meantime im going to at least do good birdie training. It means a lot to me when i hear how amazed the birdie hotel staff are at how tame the 5 are, and i want to try to make my vets job a bit easier. Keep you all posted!

Update?

Training is still iffy. For just about everybirdie I had to simply hold the clicker in one hand and give millet with the other since they are scared of it....yes the yellow band is sooooo scary...

Got a video of pip waving.

I'm not surprised training is still going so rough. Changes really throw them off, the braver ones like Pip dont mind changes AS much but even Pip isnt sure when its a change to the area AND the clicker. Im kinda tempted to buy a second lanyard like the one that was with the original clicker...

Update

We are still not keen on this new clicker for Max and ziggy.

Maru is starting on turn around! He tolorates the stick much better now.

Pip is working on upside down.

Star is on short day vacation....again...

I have the boys out right now and i have to laugh. The 3 fly to one side of the blinds and then there is Maru just scooting along the blinds to catch up.

Update!

Still working on getting Max ok with the clicker. It remains radioactive/a thing that will eat him and i cant get it close to him which is a problem.

Ziggy had a super short attention span last night. He targeted got a treat...targeted...and flew off.

Maru is ok with the stick being by him but instead of turning he moved his tail so its vertically down, not sticking out like normal. Sooo we are working on that...

Pippin targeted and was distracted.

Star targeted and waved but was getting distracted as well.

Maru got a bath today! I love his bath dance. Its so cute...and a bit of a dork but thats why we love him

Also the floof! No mistake, he is an English budgie

Maru asks
"Am I not the most dashing fellow in this flock?"
