I found the old clicker! Seems silly that a change in the lanyard would make such a diffrence but with Max it kinda does! He was a bit iffy about it at first but once he realized millet was involved all was well. We did everything but loop. I think though before everything got thrown off track we needed to go back and work on it anyway.
Ziggy was less inclined to train. (Total side thing, maru star and pip are out and i put millet nubs in one of the cages. Pip found his way in quickly while Maru looked on unsure how to get into the cage. Then star flew in and only after she was in the cage did maru figure out how to get in) i think with zigs its a laps in my methods when it comes to working with each of them. I cant have any other bird in the room while training otherwise one peep from the other bird and the one im working with is done with training and completly distracted.
When Maru isnt working on his modeling job he was targeting. We also did some good birdie training.
Pippin was also on the ball tonight. We made it completly through review and worked on loop.
Little yellow chicken waz next. She was also doing well tonight, we got through review and even got a little step closer toward loop!
I loved the comments on Marus picture! A little add on to the millet cage adventure. Maru and pip eventually saw themselves out of stars bedime cage. Maru eventually wandered back toward the door stood by it for a second before leaving. I can only imagine him saying, nope. She dont like me and millit isnt worth it.
Max was in a funk tonight. He was slow to target and reluctent to do tricks. Its likely something was off with the room and he was uneasy about it. Knowing Max it could have been a simple as the cage I move to have a work area wasnt in the right spot, ohhh gawd its going to eat him if he lets his guard down! That said it did get me thinking about how fussy Max is over small changes. Max had been a stray when we adopted him and in theory that could havr lead him to be more wary of changes. Budgies dont do change well anyway but Max has always seemed to be an extream case of change=bad=nopes right off.
I kept things short with Zigs since he has been having an attention span of nope lately. He was far more keen to target and did turn around 5 times in a row before he started hesitating ('uh. I did the thing where treat' look is what I got) and we even worked a bit on wave. Ziggy is getting there, I just need to keep him focused for longer than three minutes.
Maru was next and he is still not sure about the stick being by his tail.
Pippin wasnt sure what he wanted to do. We are ok until we get to working on loop and then we hit a brick wall.
Kept it short with Star since she is historically not the best with attention spans. She did show progress in loop so all is well.
Thats all for today. Nothing much to otherwise report. Star os back to starting on that broody behavior. Its not bad yet but I'm keeping an eye on her.
