Alright.
So Pippin had a semioma. My anatomy physiology is a bit lacking on this topic but its something to do with the cells inside the testicle, that was where the cancer was. From a gross (general look) exam it looks like its just enlarged. It was only diagnosed as the cancer when they looked at the tissue under a microscope. We did not see symptoms because this isnt the kind of tumor that gives off femanizing hormones nor did it appear to have pressed on any nerves. That said it was likely pressing on something which lead to his passing, the exacts are unclear. The other thing that was noted was the lack of internal body fat. Likely what occured was as the tumor grew he burned fat. That is why we did not see any change in weight.

A shout out to my vet who explained this all to me. Its about the most complete explanation I will get. Not having an exact reason, like the tumor pressed on this thing causing his condition to deteriorate so quickly, doesnt sit well with me. That said I take what info I do have over an inconclusive necropsy. And if Im being brutally honest, im in part relieved it was something we couldnt have seen coming, prevent or really treat. Budgie daddy and I gave Pip pip a good 4 years with us and knowing gives me comfort.

His urn shipped yesterday. We went with the same person who made Kigers urn. I am so greatful she was able to make Pippins as well. We have his name stamped with 'Little adventurer' stamped below his name.

Meanwhile Marus culture came back positive for bacteria and negative for fungal. Now baby is on meds for AGY twice a day, nose drops 3 times a day and peanut butter flavored antibiotics twice a day. I have mixed feelings on how he has both a URI and AGY but in theory the URI is secondary to the urpy that came with the AGY.

So that is where we are at. Im a mix of feels but I am happy to have some answers now.

Pippin was very blessed to have had 4 wonderful years with you.
I'm glad you have a definitive answer with regard to the cause of his passing. Hugs to you!!

Well a random little update on our corner of the world. Budgie daddy and I went on an amazing trip west to just sight see. The flock stayed at the birdie hotel. It appears however there was some miscommunication because while provided with 2 cages all 4 ended up sleeping in one not very big cage. This is a problem because as we all know, Max is a possessive boyfriend and will fight anybirdie who gets close to star. Well thankfully no one drew blood but star was missing 5 primaries on her right wing (left was fine) and Maru and Zigs were sporting some rather scruffy looks. I was livid at first but did talk with the owner. They have it noted that Max is a jerk and usually would take steps to not allow this kind of thing to happen. She said she would be talking with the staff and note in their chart to only let 2 out at a time so we dont have a last minute hang out party in one of the cages. They didnt notice Stars feathers...which is another thing that bugs me but truth I didnt even see it until I got them home.

I did check with my vet, asymmetrical molting isnt completely impossible but her loosing 5 primaries is weird and she agrees it might have to do with the group sleep over. She isnt aloud out for a few weeks since those new feathers dont have any protection and can break with one derp wall clip and she cant really manage altitude very well. She doesnt crash onto the floor....usually.... But after having 5 birds grow in their feathers after being clipped Im not going there.

The others are doing well. Maru finally put the weight back on. Ziggy is still the sweetest little dork. Max is happy living with Star. They have been keeping it PG lately so Im happy.

I am thinking I will get another English Budgie. Im still debating because I also have been wanting a parrotlet but budgies are winning that inner debate. Im saving up a bit first as a way to take my time. Id likely go with the sake breeder we got Maru from. She hand feeds her babies and we had a good experience with her when I got Maru.

So thats where we are at. Im getting back into a routine and I want to start training again but I want to change how I do things and start anew. I will when Im ready. In the meantime here are Sleepy Maru and Ziggy and Star when we got her home.

Glad for the update and pictures.

I'm sure you were not pleased about the group sleepover. I know I would have been very perturbed if I had been in your position upon coming home! Thankfully nothing "too" bad happened, but still... Hopefully it won't take too long until Star's primaries come in.

Kisses to all your lovelies from the FaeryBee Flock!
