Sooo... I'm fairly new to budgies and on this forum, so I hope its ok if I start our training journal
Sooo... Helios (formerly known as Hera) and Zeus have been living with me for 2 weeks now. I've got them from a local pet store, where they lifed in a huge aviary.
The first week I spent a lot of time just sitting in front of their cage and talking with them, or reading my college books out loud to them ( I mean, birds have to get educated too
) . They seemed to get comfortable really fast. After a few days I started feeding them a small amount of millet through the cage. They seem to be so in love with the millet, that they ignored my hand holding the millet completly.
After that, I started having my hand in the cage while talking with them. Today Helios even stepped on my hand to eat his daily amount of millet.
This totally made my day (which is also why I'm posting it here now, hope it's ok). I won't force them to step up yet though... I'll just keep holding my hand in there and feeding them some millet from time to time, I don't wanna destroy their trust by rushing anything.
I'm so glad they seem to be doing well, although I barely have any experience.
Oh, and why the ???: Since we've found out that we have two boys (thx to you guys!), we decided to get a larger cage (1.6m width) and two additional girls. Of course we'll keep them seperated for the first few weeks, but I can't wait to get and then introduce them!
