Hello everyone! I decided to start a bonding/taming journey of my flock. Their names are Blueberry, Lemon, Lime, and Camellia. They're all such wonderful little birds and I love my feather babies. I plan on keeping a journal here about how taming is going with them and about the things I learn while raising them.
So lately I have been trying to get the flock used to my hand but it hasn't been going well. I put my hand barely in the cage holding millet and stay perfectly still but they usually cling to the sides of the cage and just sit still until I pull my hand out. However yesterday they were willing to peck at the millet but would run away if I moved even a teeny bit. And today it happened.
I got them to sit on my hand and eat from it!
I was soooo happy when Camellia came down and perched on my hand to eat and not long after that all three of the others did as well! I'm so excited for what the future holds!
Your budgies are so cute! I have a Lemon and Lime myself I'm sure the more you keep interacting with them and building their trust they will come around in no time! Looking forward to hear about your progress, as I am going through the same process with my budgies
Today I couldn't get the funky flock to eat from my hand but they didn't freak out when I put my hand in the cage so that's something.
We have a barn with barn swallows and they've been coming back. Today however one hit my window and hurt its wing. I called a local conservation agent to come get it and while I was waiting on him the barn swallow and the flock were chatting. It was so cute and funny!
