Default Vent scratching

Vent scratching-image.jpg

My female budgie's vent looks bit bloated up when she is trying to poop or preen herself. The vent is not dirty but it seems she has plucked few feathers off her vent. It looks brown.

I don't know if it's due to egg binding or because of dust (she flew and sat on my ac which was dusty..two days back.). Usually she has this scratching problem every winter due to central heating but I'm concerned this time.

Attached is the picture of her vent when she was preening her vent. When she's sitting normally it doesn't look like this. I think she opened her vent when the pic was clicked.

Are he feather brown or is it her skin?

If she pulled out her own feathers that can be a huge issue, it sounds like she is extremely irritated in that are. Are you able to handle her? If so is it inflamed? Are there any other symptoms?

If you can I would take her to a vet, sounds like something may be wrong. If you don't have that option (I understand because I don't exactly have that option either) you can use one of many websites to ask an online vet and send pictures. It costs money but is well worth it in saving your bird.

I hope she is okay, keep us posted! ♡♡♡♡
