Default Female Budgie's swollen vent area

Hi guys! I have a newly bought pair of breeding budgies. And i have noticed that she has a quite swollen vent area. I guess it is not an egg bonding issue, as she is active and healthy, eats well and drink too. has her greens too. im just not sure what it is!!!
I've been reading around different forums and stuff, and most of them say that all of it is just excess fat, i admit that they have a good diet and maybe a bit to much of canary seeds.
here's some pics, could someone get back to me with some advise.

thank you so much for looking!

Regards Ricko xx

Do you think she could possibly be egg bound?

i do not think so,as the swelling is a soft tissue, and if it was egg bounding she would feel unwell, and wouldnt eat or be active, as of today her health is immaculate, swelling-is the only thing that im concerned about

thank you Ricko

How long have you had the pair and have they produced a clutch already?
I feel she needs to go to an avian vet as soon as possible, it could be a tumor, or a cyst either way it needs to be looked at as if she comes into breeding she will not be able to mate or produce eggs without problems. Please let us know how you get on?

Hi Cathy!
Ta for your message.
I have them for just over a week, i brought them home in a breeding cage, but since yesterday i have placed them in the same cage with others, as one of the forums have said to put it into a bigger cage, and that she ought to be fine with time, but actually my big cage isn't that enormous something like an aviary, but the door is always open, so all me birds go out and comes back whenever day want, but what I've noticed that she cannot fly!
she would fly but very low, i have to pick her up to place her back into the cage, or when she was in the breeding cage she would spend a lot of time in nesting box. now she seems to be active and snuggle with the male.

Did you get them from a breeder, or from a shop?
If she can't fly it could be the lump causing distress what colour is her cere and is it flaky or raised? If possible please post a picture of her front on. Also what are her droppings like? Are they normal or larger, watery, I still feel they should go to see an avian vet .Also you said you placed them in the aviary ,when you bring any new bird home they should be quarantined in case of sickness that can be passed on to your other budgies.
Please get her looked at as soon as possible.

Ricko,

Even though your budgie may be active, eating and drinking doesn't mean there isn't a serious problem that needs to be addressed. For the health and well-being of the bird, you really need to have her seen by an Avian Vet as soon as possible. The swollen area may well be a tumor or cyst that isn't causing pain at the moment, but she may also be "masking" any pain she feels as birds do in the wild.

You asked for advice and this is the best advice anyone can give you. When there is a problem or issue of this nature, the best thing you can do for your budgie is have it seen by an Avian Vet for a proper diagnosis and treatment protocol. I hope you will do so right away and let us know what you find out.

Best wishes to your little female.
