Default Budgie nor eating

I know this has probably been covered elsewhere I tried looking for it but quicker to ask on here. I feed my budgie the same seeds every week but last few days he won't eat them atal. I put millet and fresh fruit in and he eats them and clearly he's hungry because he's down the bottom of the cage looking for any seeds that's been dropped. I changed his seeds and bought trill instead but still won't touch them. He's moulting just now does this change his diet? Thanks

Is this the first time you have bought the Trill seed mix?
I'm not familiar with that brand, but I have heard from many members here that Trill isn't really a good brand and the seed mix had some recent changes to its "recipe" and the budgies that used to eat Trill no longer like the new Trill.
Your best bet here is to get another bag of a different seed mix, I don't know what brands you have available there. My flock eats the Vitakraft seed mix.

You can add some protein to your moulting budgie to help him cope better with the energy lost from the moult and also to help him grow strong and beautiful new feathers. Egg food is really good for moulting birds, you can find recipes over at the Diet and Nutrition section of the forums or you can buy ready-made egg food from a pet store. You can also offer him sprouts and of course the veggies and occasional piece of fruit.

Cheers. I think your right about the new recipe. Just that he wasn't eating the other stuff he normally gets. I will have a look for new stuff and see what happens

Aluz gives you good advice.

You can also see if he's getting the nutrition he needs by checking his droppings. A bird who isn't getting enough nutrition or who is becoming dehydrated will have several things happen to his droppings: they will decrease in size, become long and thin, and they can have a dark green tint around them when dried.

I feed Sammy boiled egg when he's feeling under the weather, and he gobbles it up. That could be a way to get some quick nutrition back into your budgie so that he doesn't lack energy. Also, if he's hand tame, please start a weight diary (check his weight with a kitchen scale every 8 hours or so) to make sure that he isn't losing weight. A drop of 3 or 4 grams can be worrying in a budgie.

I also feed Vitakraft, mixed with Canary Seed (alpiste in Spanish, not seed mixes for canaries). I roll the seeds in Harrison's Booster probiotics and store in a tupperware.
