Default I can not believe it

My babies actually ate a vegetable today! I am totally tickled and thrilled.

They shunned every attempt to give them veges. I am making a pot roast for dinner and decided to place a baby carrot in the cage (raw) after a few hours I saw Loki holding the carrot down with one foot and gnawing at it and he did not stop! He actually liked it! Then Oliver, Princess Snowflake joined in! I think the carrot was too big and they eventually stopped but the next time I am at a grocery store i will get some shredded carrots from the salad bar and see if they will take to it.

That's fantastic! I love reading about budgies finally taking to their veggies. Perseverance is definitely key! Congratulations!

They seem to like eating from the cage floor for some reason. i wonder if that is why they ate it. usually they take one bite, put on the sour pus face, and walk away

If the shredded carrots don't work out, go back to whole carrots. My Sammy doesn't like shredded or chopped veggies or fruits - he prefers to nibble the whole thing off of a cage clip.

Good job on your success! It's all downhill from here.

When I got home from work i found they ate about 15% more of the same carrot. I tossed it out for it was getting a tad dry

Congrats! I've found that Mally also loves romaine lettuce and kale, too! It's always a struggle to introduce a new birdy diet, they're so finicky

It was funny when I tried to give them an apple. They all took 1 bite and put on the "sour" face and walked off.
