Default Outdoor Temps-windows open

At what outdoor temperature can I start to open my windows? I live in NYC, 6th floor (top floor) apt. facing east. I don't want my budgies to freeze, but I like to get some fresh air this time of year.

What a beautiful budgie! I also live on the 6th floor in Madrid, and I open the windows in the rooms other than where my budgie lives. Since he lives in the living room, where we have a big sliding door that goes out to the terrace, I rarely open it until the summer heat sets in. At that time, I also put a sheet over the side of his cage that faces the window to catch any drafts that might come in.

Budgies are good at about 70 degrees Fahrenheit, so you could put a thermometer next to the cage and make sure that the room temperature stays above that mark. If he's going through a molt or ill, the temp needs to be higher.

Good luck and enjoy the warm weather!

Thanks for the advice. I do open the windows in my other rooms. They also live in the Living room, where I have nice big windows. They get plenty of light and sunshine.
Gracias!

I have my window open in my bird room in what ever the weather is, hot/cold/calm or wind.
