My local Walmart has an item the keeps lice and mites away. Do you think I should buy it? Thanks!

Nope, your birds will be fine without any of that! The harsh chemicals in those products can hurt their lungs with long term exposure. Mites don't just "happen". If your birds ever get mites, there's a different solution to getting rid of them, it's called Ivermectin "spot on" treatment.

Good job on checking before buying. A lot of stores will try to sell you things you don't actually need if your taking proper care of your budgie, such as mite sprays or vitamin drops. As long as your cage is kept nice and clean you should be fine! :>
