Default New budgie question

Hello,
I have a really random question but wanted to ask.
I have a new budgie (I'm not a first time budgie owner but am still over-worrying about him!) and also have a large aquarium in the same room. I need to treat my tank with a medicated chemical (Melafix). It says it's 'all-natural' but it occured to me that it does have a smell. This got me thinking about whether the common chemicals in aquarium maintenance (Aquasafe and FilterBoost etc) are safe to dose with the budgie in the same room? Does anybody have their budgies in the same room as an aquarium for which they use routine maintenance and medicated chemicals? Thank you.

I would move the budgie's cage into a different room when you treat the aquarium with any chemicals.
I assume the aquarium has a top and the budgie is never allowed to land on it, is that correct?

Thank you. Yes, the tank has a secure lid so I'm not worried about the risk of drowning.
