oocho update and what to do??
I posted about a month ago about Oocho breaking his leg. Unfortunately, though the bone has healed he has ligament damage in his foot which according to the vet isn`t going to heal. He`s not going to be able to return to his cage. I`m heartbroken.
He`s 11 and a half and hasn`t been able to fly for about 7 years. He spends most evenings on my shoulder eating off my shirt. He`s eating ok so that`s good.
Right now he`s in a plastic insect box about 30 cm long by 18 wide. I want to get him a bigger home but I found a previous thread writing not to use a glass cage because of health reasons. I found a huge glass cage which could be may a serviceable home about 3 times bigger than his current home.
I`m not sure what to do and could use some advice.
I would suggest you get a long low cage for Oocho and set it up with flat perches as well as ramps so he can easily get to various areas of the cage.
Cages that are 30" x 18" x 18" are inexpensive and you can easily place newspaper, white craft paper or layers of white paper towels on top of the bottom grate to make it easy for Oocho to walk.
