Default Help - Vince cleaning herself / sneezing

Hey guys!

Vince has been a little unwell recently and I’m just after some advice.

She has had 2 little sickness/regurgitation spells. We took her to the vet who seems to think she is okay but to keep an eye on her. They gave us an anti-inflammatory for her to take for a week. I have also changed her food which seems to have improved her poo colour too (it was greeny but now black)

However I have noticed she is cleaning herself a lot recently (she always has but seems to do it for longer at the moment) and every now and then she will sneeze on me and it feels wet (clear liquid) She just done this and sneezed about 3/4 times in a row.

After the vet visit I do feel very worried so any advice would help! Am I just being a worried budgie mum?! Haha

She is not doing real bad, but do closely follow her progress in getting better, The vet does not think she is real ill or in a bad way. Hope he is right and your bird is all well in a few days.

Was it an avian vet that you saw? Were any tests done such as a crop swab or a test on the droppings? Is she cleaning just in one area of her body or all over? Is she molting, when they molt they can feel itchy with all the new feathers coming in and that can cause them to preen more.

I’m also wondering if this was an avian vet. I don’t know why they gave you anti-inflammatory meds for those symptoms. Doesn’t seem to make sense.

While the vet could be right, I see your point, the cold does seem to be a current issue.Maybe you are not real sure of this vet, but sometimes a person does find a great vet, I have, but that was after a place that was just so so. Yes, do keep a close eye on your bird and some of the folks on this group really know a lot about budgies.
