Hello, I haven't been active on this forum since joining after first getting my English Budgie 4 years ago but I'm hoping I can get some helpful advice for my sweet Sylvie. A couple months ago I noticed she just wasn't herself, very lethargic and not interested in doing anything other than eat and sleep. She has a play area on top of her cage we customized for her that she normally spends time on daily but no interest really. She would just want to snuggle up to me and sleep when I had her out. It also seemed as though she was breathing a bit harder than normal. I took her to the avian vet and she did hear a bit of cackling when listening to her chest so she put her on antibiotics and an anti fungal. After the first couple of days she seemed to be a bit better but that didn't last and she was back to seeming unhappy and lethargic. I took her to a follow up and even though her lungs sounded clear this time she said she lost a couple grams in weight so she put her on more antibiotics along with the same anti fungal. That was over a week ago and she just doesn't seem to be improving. I don't know what else I can do for her, she is eating thank goodness but she is just not the same happy bird and it breaks my heart. I will be taking her to another follow up appt next week but don't know what else could possibly be done for her. Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

Sorry your bird is ill, where there any tests done at the vet? If things are not improving some blood work such as CBC might be in order or a crop swab to check for bacteria and other organisms, have air sac mites been ruled out? Is there any discharge from the nares, coughing or sneezing? Depending on the issue sometimes nebulizer treatment can help.
