Hello, I hope everyone and your feather friends are doing well in these chaotic times. ♡
My budgie's name is Mac and she is about six years old. She has been sick often since we adopted her as a baby, with clicking breaths, bobbing tail, drooping wings, and frequent vomiting. She has seen the vet a few times because of this, but they have never been able to find out what exactly is wrong with her, just that she sometimes has too much yeast. She's taken medication before and usually comes out happy and healthy by the end of it. She laid a few eggs in the spring last year, and her egg bump butt never went away. We got her to see multiple vets, got her an ultrasound, and her bum bump is a hernia. So her intestines are kind of spilled out and make a funny bump, but according to our avian vet, it's not painful for her, so we decided not to give her surgery, since there's so many risks involved for such tiny birds. The vet suggested that we give her little hernia a gentle massage if she is experiencing vomiting, to help her food pass a bit easier.
Which brings us to now! She is exhibiting her usual symptoms, but they have been going on for about four days straight now. Normally they go away within a few hours. I've been trying the tummy massages about once a day, been feeding her fresh veggies, boiled eggs, millet as a treat, and chamomile tea to drink. She has been sleeping most of these last days, so I am uncertain how much she actually has been eating. I have her in a cage now and am monitoring her very closely! She is not used to being stuck in a cage, so it may be stress, but she hasn't been eating her favorite things, and her droppings are mostly urine, hardly any fecal matter. She is sleeping right now, but her symptoms going on so long have me really concerned. Any advice on what I should do for her tonight? I am calling the vet first thing in the morning.
She has all her food in easy to reach spots (she can still perch just fine), and the room is being kept warm, and her cage partially covered so she can get lots of sleep if she needs. Thank you so much for reading this far! ;3;
