Hi everyone. Buddy my budgie is better since his hormonal changes, but I'm sad because he pushes away from me each time I want to touch him, except for him liking to get on my finger. He won't let me take him out of his cage unless he wants to come out. š I love him so much and it saddens me and makes me angry when he let's me pet his beak a tiny bit, but then he climbs away when I try to pet his head or feet. He loves to love ME, but he won't really let me love on him. I got so upset a few times and actually gently grabbed him from his cage just to hold him and pet him. I wanted to show him I love him and be Gene within. Iknow, I know,bad mommy. I did the one thing I should've do, but it just got to me. I'm trying not to do that again. I'm just frustrated. I need to pet him. I need the comfort at times. Help please.

It seems like you're expecting something from your little one that he simply can't give you. Most budgies do not like to be petted past the baby stage regardless of how tame they are. It's going to keep hurting your relationship with him to keep forcing him to accept your "affection"; it will traumatize him.
Please do not force your petting on him. It's causing him a lot of stress. If you want an animal which will readily accept your pets then a cat or a dog is going to be your best bet. Having expectations like this for your little budgie and even getting angry when he doesn't want to accept your affection is unreasonable and not fair to him at all.
Just like with people, you should respect his boundaries.

I'm glad to hear it. Even though at times you may feel like giving up, try and keep going; remind yourself what you're working towards. He'll never be cuddly but it's very likely that he'll enjoy spending time with you more and more if he stops fearing you're suddenly going to try and force him to be touched.
